This is from the Tomb of the Unknown at Arlington Cemetery, Washington DC. I think the mood of the image is really fitting for black and white. The only thing I find annoying is that it was raining, but the rain is far from as prominent in the picture as I would like. And perhaps that part of the stock is cut off.
Oh, and by the way, I looked a bit into the guy's medals (I have close-ups, and I used to be a soldier myself :-)). The list of the medals I could identify is below, but the short story is that he has been deployed to Iraq, just like me, where he has been in combat. He has received a couple of medals for metorious service and is a parachutist. He is also in the army, not the marines.

Army Commendation Medal
Distinguishing oneself by heroism, meritorious achievement or meritorious service

Army Achievement Medal
[...]while serving in any capacity with the Army in a non-combat area [...] distinguished himself by meritorious service or achievement. A smaller version of the Army Commendation Medal.

National Defense Service Medal
Awarded for honorable active service for any period between [...] 11 September 2001 and a closing date to be determined.

Iraq Campaign Medal
Awarded to soldiers who deploy to Iraq in direct support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF)

Global War On Terrorism (Service)
Awarded to soldiers who have participated in or served in support of Global War on Terrorism Operations outside the designated areas of eligibility (AOE) for the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal

Combat Infantryman Badge
[...]participate in active ground combat while assigned as a member of an infantry[...]

Parachutist Badge
The Army Parachutist Badge is awarded to all Soldiers in any service who complete US Army Airborne school, 3 weeks of training at Fort Benning, Georgia. It signifies that the Soldier is a trained Army Parachutist, and is qualified to conduct airborne operations.
